On those special occasions, having big, voluminous and bouncy hair is something many of us aspire to achieve.

So, if you find yourself invited out, having guests around or meeting someone special and want to make a great impression – but you have no time to wash and dry your hair – here are 5 ways to create volume and bouncy hair.

Root Lift

If you wear your hair to the side and its sitting flat, spritz a little of ghd ‘Pick Me Up’ root lift spray into your hair focusing on the root area. Flip your hair in the opposite direction of your parting and shake the area dry with your blow dryer on medium heat and low speed.

This should take less than 5 minutes, once dry flip your hair back to its usual parting and smooth without combing flat. Add some hairspray to keep it in place, and you’re now good to go!

Tease your height

Using your hands pull the back and side sections of hair away and clip out of the way leaving just the top section of hair. Taking a fine tooth comb create small 3 cm slices and back comb from mid-lengths to roots.

Spray with hairspray, let dry and then place hair in the direction you want it to fall and smooth the top layer down being careful NOT to take the comb right through and pull out all of your teasing.

You may like to practice this as your results will vary depending on how much teasing and how heavy handed you are when combing.

Dry and high

Use a dry shampoo like Pureology’s Refresh and Go Dry Shampoo. Spray at the roots all through your hair.

Give short quick sprays to avoid oversaturation or you could dry it with your blow dryer and fingers if it is too wet.

This product is designed to soak up excess oil and give the hair a ‘textured’ feel, a bit like your hair has been at the beach.

You can brush or comb your hair and ‘plump’ it with your fingers at the root. This product is also vegan and cruelty free.

Roller relief

If you have a set of hot rollers then these are perfect to create all over volume and bounce that will last all day.

Simply apply hairspray at the roots and take sections of hair about 3 cm apart and the same width as the hot rollers and wrap around the preheated roller. Secure in place and allow to cool.

Take out hot rollers and lightly comb through mid lengths and ends being careful not to disturb the root area. Spray into place.

Bun-tastic

If your hair is long enough to tie up then scoop it up onto the top of your hair and secure with a non-elastic hair tie.

Twist the hair in one direction until it starts twisting on itself as a bun and secure with several pins.

You can also sleep in this as its placed on the top of your head and quite comfortable. In the morning, take your hair down and while you hair is upside down spray with hairspray at the roots and stand back upright.

Smooth your hair down softly and spray lightly again.

You should now have volume and bounce to your hair! If, however, you would like some visual instruction, then ask your stylist when you are next at Bijonei to show you any of these tips and you’ll have the hair of your dreams.

The higher the hair – the closer to God!
